A Delta Connection CRJ-900, operating as Flight 4819 from Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP) to Toronto Pearson (YYZ), crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday afternoon, flipping onto its roof.
According to officials, 15 people have been injured, including a child and two adults in critical condition. The 12 other passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals. The aircraft was carrying 80 people, including 76 passengers and four crew members.
Emergency crews responded to the scene after reports that the aircraft was “upside down and burning,” as heard in an air traffic control recording. Pearson Airport has suspended all arrivals and departures indefinitely while investigations continue.
The flight was operated by Endeavor Air, a regional airline wholly owned by Delta Air Lines, which operates under the Delta Connection brand.
This incident comes as Toronto grapples with heavy snowfall, with city officials warning that snow removal could take up to three weeks after back-to-back winter storms. It remains unclear if weather conditions played a role in the crash.
This is a developing story.
